Cirque Du Soleil is Taking Over NYC!

cirque-du-soleilThe good ol’ US of A rarely gets a good dose of the beauty and imagination that is the traveling Cirque Du Soleil shows. Sure, Vegas has their static shows, but the east coast is often neglected, with maybe one show a year…maybe. But fret no more die hard circus freaks… Cirque is here to take over NYC!!

Wintuk (which has actually graced NYC with its presence for the past 2 years) will be opening at the Wamu theatre November 11th.  Then on February 4th, 2010 Banana Spheel opens at the Beacon Theatre. This vaudeville-ish show is the first of its kind from Cirque, fusing dance, music and comedy to create something truly one-of-a-kind. THEN Ovo, Cirque’s brand spanking new insect-infested show, hits Randall’s Island Park on May 27, 2010. Also, rumor has it that in 2011 Cirque is planning on establishing a 4 month summer extravaganza in Radio City Music Hall. Oh the excitement!

Perhaps the best part about Cirque finding its new home in NYC is the candid videos of various New Yorkers getting Punk’d Cirque-style.

Check out more of the videos here. And learn all about Cirque Du Soleil’s invasion of NYC here.
