Sometimes My Arms Bend Back

redroom
My days of late have been a mish-mash of small accomplishments, excitement and complete and total confusion. All in all it is still a life worth living, and I am grateful for that.  I have decided to make ponies and unicorns a place for me. Where I can dump my brain and write things of interest. If you like it, well then that’s cool too.

Some random going ons:

Lord of the Rings

Thus continues my descent into total dorkdom.  I have finished the LOTR trilogy, and while at times it was fascinating and entertaining, I mostly thought it was a bore. Is that a heresy? I feel kind of bad about not loving them, because I devoted so much time to reading. To be quite honest, there were WAY too many characters referenced and involved. Also, the history and geography in the book requires a deep and intimate understanding to the Tolkien “middle earth” that would only be acquired by reading the Silmarillion – something i’m not about to do.  I might be alone in this, but after months of time spent reading the trilogy, I would have much rather just watched the movies.  Off to Murakami-land now!

Circus

My aerial skills have been improving, but now I am learning a whole new batch of tricks that make me feel inadequate.  I guess it is all part of the process. I am, however getting much stronger.  I can do 7 pull-ups on average and just recently accomplished a meathook.  A meathook is a move where if done correctly, it feels like a huge hook is stuck in your chest. Fun! Unfortunately, I can’t get out of it just yet and I can only do it on my right side. The result is some very unpretty flopping around.

My contortion training is officially non-existent. I was stretching everyday, but now I have so many things going on I can barely find the time. It seems like that time wont be returning again until the new year.  I am now just a run of the mill flexible girl, not the freakishly bendy sideshow freak I long to be.

10 Amazing Parkour Videos For Your Viewing Pleasure

I have tried my hand at parkour (freerunning) multiple times, but I have found that it is not for me. Jumping 15 story buildings require a pair of balls that I don’t think I will ever have. However, I have much respect for the people who do. Here are some of the best:

This is the best parkour vid I have ever seen. So much fun. (And shirtless russian men as an added bonus.)

Ponies and unicorns and puppies, oh my!

About 2 years ago I purchased the poniesandunicorns.com domain in a sudden fit of inspiration that happened on a Sunday morning at around 6am. I woke out of a sound sleep and said aloud, “Yes, that is genius! I like ponies! I like unicorns! This will totally work!” I proceeded to purchase the domain.  Then I went back to sleep. Upon waking up again I realized I had no idea what to do with my purchase. To be quite honest I still don’t, but it is just too good to squat in.

So that brings us to the present. I have decided to fill up this space on the interwebs with my incoherent ramblings, and other various interests of mine. They may or may not interest you too.

Since 99% of my waking hours are spent online I consider myself somewhat of an expert on internet memes, social media, and bizarre trendiness that lurks around every corner of this beautiful thing we call the internet. I spend endless hours searching out information and visual stimuli on a variety of topics. Future posts may be about (but most definitely not limited to):

Cute and Adorable things
If you can’t tell already, cute things make me happy. I love puppies and bunnies and mice and kittens. They bring me up from my darkest of places. My brain plays the nom nom song on repeat. Cuteoverload.com is my lord and personal savior. If you are lucky, I will share all of these happy, fluffy, snorgling balls of fun with you.

Art and Inspiration
I think everyone should have a constant showcase of inspiration at their fingertips. I am going to try my best to fill this site with the work of photographers, digital manipulators,  website designers, street artists, crafters, performance artists, and anyone else who makes their creativity visible to the world. With the proper credit always given, of course. I hope to one day have enough internet cred to write my own guides for achieving inspiration and tapping into creativity.

Productivity and Self Development
I’m a sucker for self help. I said it.  Not “He’s Just Not That Into You” brand self help. The kind that helps you become the best person you can be. How to do what you love and make the most out of every moment you have. I think that life is precious and every moment should mean something. I am not  by far a guru but I have come very far from where I was 5 years ago, and I would like to share some of the things I have learned.

The Circus
The past year has sucked me deep into the circus. I have been training as an aerialist and it has changed my life in more ways than I could ever imagine. You learn more about yourself hanging by your foot from a rope 20ft in the air than you ever will on the ground. I would like to track my progress here, as well as share some circus related inspiration such as videos, art, and music.

Entertainment and Reviews
My brain gets a constant barrage of music, movies and books. If I find some good stuff, I will share a review.

Health and Fitness
Obviously i’m a huge fitness buff. I also believe in the healing powers of certain foods. I think yoga can save lives. Yeah i’m a hippie.. so what?

All in all, this is just a personal blog. Filled with stuff about me, me, me!!! This is a learning experience, and I hope eventually this blog will be less about me and more about you. But for now I have to go with what I know.
